The Manipur Legislative Assembly, on 2nd September 2026, once again reaffirmed its earlier resolutions urging the Government of India to update the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Manipur. I believe that a clear, credible and properly verified process of identifying citizens is important for the long-term interests of our state as well as our country. This is a matter that requires responsibility, patience and unity - both socially and politically. Whatever steps lie ahead, they should be guided by fairness, due process, proper verification and, above all, the interests of our state as a whole. Let us continue walking together, with mutual trust and a shared sense of responsibility, so that we may work towards the future our state seeks.
