Condemn the directive issued by security forces posted at the Gwaltabi checkpoint to remove the word ‘Manipur’ from an MST bus. Such actions undermine the state identity and pride of the people of Manipur and risk escalating tensions in an already sensitive situation. While security concerns must be addressed, it is essential that respect for local identity and sentiments be maintained and that the issue is handled without any brazen display of coercion and instigation. We call on the relevant authorities to look into the matter urgently and engage with the community to ensure peace and understanding prevail in the state.
